Health, Safety and Environment
The Energy Cranes commitment to Health and Safety is absolute: there is no job so pressing that we cannot take the time to do it safely.
Every employee is trained in a culture of competence, adherence to procedures for safe working, safety observation and ‘buddy-care’. It’s not enough to look after ourselves: we have to look after each other.
The company operates its own ‘Look This Way’ safety observation and alert system and subscribes to a philosophy of ‘Accountability for Safety’: both these programmes are interfaced with client initiatives to ensure alignment.
This safety culture is led from the highest level in the organisation to ensure that it permeates through every stage of our work – from feasibility studies, through engineering designs, task risk assessments, work packs, toolbox talks and implementation. Better to engineer the risk out from the start than to try to mitigate it on site.
On health promotion, the company participates in various national schemes in countries in which we operate - notably Scotland's Health at Work scheme, where our Sparrows Offshore business has already attained the Gold Award. The company encourages participation in healthy and outdoor activities and lifestyles, including through sponsorship of community and charitable sporting challenges.
Our health and safety track record is one of our greatest assets (we even call our in-house safety newsletter the ‘SAFETY RECORD’!). We guard this reputation jealously because it brings us home safely each trip – and ensures we will be welcome back on your installation next time.
Energy Cranes activities entail little significant potential for environmental impact. None the less, appropriate precautions are taken to minimise even these small effects.
