Derrick Cherry Picker/ Stabbing Basket

Safety and Versatility in Derrick & General Rig Access

As the drilling industry moves from man-riding winches to inherently safer in-derrick access platforms, Sparrows introduces its range of Derrick Cherry Pickers.

The Sparrows Derrick Cherry Picker is distinguished by its capacity – 400 kg, easily accommodating two people and their tools.

Its reach and manoeuvrability give it the scope to tackle tasks from the top drive to the moon pool.

•    12m 3-stage telescopic arm & basket with control console
•    Vertical or horizontal travel rails, trolley and drives
•    Drill-floor mounted slave control console
•    Emergency Load Lowering (ELL) system

The basket slews left/right through 180º at 2º, tilting up/down through 60º and telescoping from the min 6m to max 12m arm length at 9m/min. The whole assembly, which has a gross weight of 3.5 tonne, connects via flexible hoses and a manifold block to the rig’s hydraulic system, drawing 100 ltr/min at 200 bar.

Like all Sparrows Rig Mechanisation products, the Cherry Picker is function tested (at works), supplied with full operation and maintenance manuals and comes with the option of on-site installation and commissioning by Sparrows personnel.
